HANDS DOWN live at Bridgeport Brewpub (left to right):
Bill Limbocker, bass guitar; Rick Selleck, drums; Victor Cummings
guitar and vocals; Scott Mankin, keyboards and trumpet.

Victor and his rock-fusion group HANDS DOWN performed for more than 10 years at venues such as Rose Festival, Mount Tabor Theater, Bite of Portland, Key Largo, Bridgeport Brewing, Dublin Pub, Alameda Brewhouse, Taste of Beaverton, and numerous private events. HANDS DOWN performed two shows at the Century Club at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. The group appeared on KPTV-12’s Good Day Oregon, and songs from the band’s CD’s have been featured on KINK-FM’s Local Music Spotlight. Performing and recording together from 1991 until 2002, the band produced two CD’s: Closer Than You Know and Which Way The Wind Blows. Musicians included Bill Limbocker on bass guitar, Rick Selleck on drums, Scott Mankin on keyboards & trumpet, and Phillip Walker on electric violin.

Victor also contributed distinctive vocal harmony and acoustic mandolin to the Seattle-based acoustic duo GENE BURNETT & VICTOR CUMMINGS. The popular modern folk duo recorded six albums and performed throughout the Northwest at festivals, coffeehouses, colleges, and radio programs for more than a decade.

In 1995, Victor and his wife Cathie Clifford produced and performed in “The Grand Design,” a multi-media collaboration with HANDS DOWN, dancer /choreographers Keith Goodman and Luciana Proano, and the contact improv troupe Touch Monkey. Staged at Portland’s venerable Echo Theater, this unique benefit concert at raised money for a youth arts program.

Also with his wife Cathie, Victor performed and recorded for ten years with KUKUVA MARIMBA, a mainstay in the Portland worldbeat music scene. They perform together on the group’s debut CD “Life Is Good.”
